You’re doing what Now??…

…You sew stuff for outdoors? yeh, basically.

Sew Meg was formed after a long front stoop conversation with my husband about our future, our overall career happiness and what we wanted our lives to look like as we started a family. Three hours later on that stoop, we decided that I should start a business where I could work from home. I’m a formally trained landscape designer, and while I loved doing the designing, I’ll admit I was jealous of the installation crews bringing my designs to life. I have a maker’s spirit and it just didn’t have an outlet. Starting Sew Meg was a way to fuse my love of landscape design with my passion for sewing. This way I not only get to think up the design, but I also get to create the actual pieces in my studio by my hand.

The Sew Meg team also includes my husband, Karl, my personal tech guru and motivational coach who has helped me overcome many beginning business obstacles and is aware that there are plenty more lurking in the not so distance future shadows.

When I’m not working on Sew Meg business, I keep occupied with my two dogs, Joe & Phoebe, by doing lots of dog training with them. I enjoyed learning about dog training so much when I rescued my first dog, Joe, seven years ago that I am now a volunteer dog training instructor at a local dog obedience training club in my neighborhood. I also took up cycling because of Karl, and let’s be honest…it’s a lot easier on my knees. We both enjoy vegetable gardening and keep dreaming up ways to outfit our Northeast home more and more into resembling an urban homestead. Chickens and a greenhouse are just around the corner!
